Whats the next thing...

Well, I have come across another realization. I do well in a challenge. Thats where I shine.
And when there is nothing immediately in front of me to strive for, I dont strive...

I was so dedicated to being good and not cheating and making all the right choices on phase one of south beach and I did it. I am proud of myself and have proved to myself that I am capable of eating healthy and sticking to my guns. But now that there is no "challenge. I dont hold myself accountable to anything. I certainly haven't fallen back to my old ways... I am still eating lots of veggies and protein, but the not so healthy snacks have snuck their way in a couple times. Enough to make me feel like I need another challenge to keep me accountable.

I havent gained anything but I'm not losing either.

So I need a new weight loss challenge. Nutrition or fitness...

IDEAS....GO!!

  1. Lose weight for the wedding?
If that doesn't work, set a new target weight loss (say 7 lbs) and a time frame (end of February). Let me know what it is and if you don't meet it, I'll hire a bear to fight you.

Reach your goal, you're safe. Don't reach it, take your chances against the bear.

  2. Other than that, what about goals? Are those as motivating as challenges?

Maybe something like go to the gym (not workout at home) at least 3 times a week for all 4 weeks of February. Or have at least 1 carb free day a week? Limit the number of carbs per day? Limit to only whole grain carbs?

  3. Sign up for a 5K. There is a Celtic 5K in Worcester in March, there is a group called Central Mass Striders you can join and do runs with them. Check out this site for a listing of lots of runs in MA... http://www.runningintheusa.com/race/List.aspx?State=MA

You can do the Couch to 5K program to give you some discipline in training.

On the nutrition side, what about something like only allowing 'cheats' if you've worked out that day -- no workout, no cookie, or glass of wine, or whatever.

    I'll think of more.

    Yay You!!

    Love,
    Aunt Nancy

  4. Get a challenge buddy. Set two week challenges at a time. Make it a race to see who wants it more!! First two weeks could be, try at least 10 new healthy recipes! From simple veggie dishes to main entrees. And post them here!
